THE MUSIC HALL STEALTH TURNTABLE - MUSIC HALL'S FIRST DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLE - STEALTH FEATURES A BRUSHLESS LOW-TORQUE MOTOR THAT AUTOMATICALLY STOPS RUNNING AT THE END OF A RECORD.

The Stealth is a 3-speed direct drive turntable that comes complete with an S-shaped tonearm, a detachable headshell, and a  factory-mounted, precision aligned Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge.

This substantial 24-pound turntable attenuates external vibrations by utilizing what Michael Fremer notes is “an unusually heavy, multi-layer and well-damped chassis as well as large, viscous-elastomer damped height-adjustable feet and a 4 pound, elastomer-damped…aluminum platter”.

Stealth was the Right Choice

The sound from the Stealth is impressive and great for its’ market while Boris has been very helpful. I've found solutions for the complaints on the Auto-Stop and Boris helped with the sound of the 2M Blue. See below.

Auto-Stop: the resolution for the auto-stop is to delay the reading of the tonearm location. I was able to do this by carefully placing a very thin strip of black electrical tape on the mirror (spindle side) that is underneath the tonearm, and above and behind the flat rest. A little trial and error will improve the auto-stop to your preferred position. In my case, I used tweezers in both hands to place about a 1/8' strip to cover about 1/16" of the mirror edge and achieved my desired location on the second try. You'll need to rest the Stealth upside down on its’ top side, so be very careful by removing the cartridge and platter and place it on a very soft sofa. I understand Music Hall is aware of the need for a fix and is trying to find the right solution.

2M Blue: I was considering trying other cartridges, until Boris suggested an upgraded power cord for the amp. That made a significant improvement for my system, even with the NAD Masters Integrated amp in a rack that is in the basement on the other side of the house! It is also significantly less expensive than a new cartridge.

Like others, I wish it had a cover and the auto-stop had been corrected before release, so it's 4 stars from me since 4 1/2 stars are not available.
