GFP-915 Stereo Preamplifier

Two channel audio is better than ever! The new GFP-915 supports a broad audio spectrum bandwidth from 5Hz to 100kHz for high level sources and 20Hz to 50kHz for phono input. The GFP-915 is designed to capture all the fidelity that high resolution audio has to offer, with precision broadband components and an ultra low noise floor. This new ADCOM preamp hasn’t forgotten about your legacy or new components and provides you with support for source products ranging from turntables to digital sources. Pair the GFP-915 with an ADCOM power amp and rediscover the magic of two channel audio.

In the world of high performance electronics, ADCOM has done the impossible; make state of the art components that are easy to use at an affordable price. In doing this, Adcom has created a revolution in the world of consumer electronics.

Almost since the start of the brand, ADCOM has produced some of the finest components for music reproduction; this is especially true with regard to preamplifiers. In the 1980’s, the GFP-1A was hailed as the best preamplifier available, and this tradition of excellence has continued ever since. The GFP-915 takes visual cues from past Adcom products while incorporating Adcom's latest designs and technologies.

Adcom's GFP-915 preamp features separate input selectors for simultaneous listening and recording from different program sources. Walking on those lines, Adcom's engineers have developed a new phono stage catering to the resurgence in vinyl records with MM and MC configurations accessible. Couple this with the 915's state-of-art digital inputs and you have pre-amp able to maximize the highest sonic performance available today and in the future.

The entire pre-amp is housed in a beautiful polished stainless steel chassis that not only complements the knobs, but also your room decor. The GFP-915 preamplifier will help you  achieve your desired listening experience.

Adcom GFP-915 - A Near Miss

Lift the preamp and you wonder if anything is inside. Plugging-in cables and handling during setup: The feel of the unit does not come close to a $1000 piece of equipment. Not even a switched accessory socket is available on the rear panel. As our President would say, "Come on, man". The current draw is so minimal none of the ‘auto-switching’ outlet strips can slave reliably.
Viewing the preamp sitting on a shelf: OK, neat and clean, except that the bezel for the IR sensor on the front panel is pushed into its hole so far that the hole looks just like a… hole. (I’m assuming that it should be somewhat flush.) The remote still functions at close distances.
The volume knob does not feel as if it is on a rigid shaft turning in a bearing. It wobbles when adjusting and feels like a toy.
And speaking of volume: Whoever did the circuit design must have been going through an “I like GAIN” phase. All the inputs have almost enough gain that a MM phono cartridge comes close to producing normal listening volume. Seems easy enough to solve - just turn the volume down. Problem is: The volume control is almost at its minimum stop. Touchy by hand… with the remote it’s almost impossible to get a desired low level. No matter how short a press on the buttons the volume control rotates an inordinately large amount. After about 10 presses or so, rotating CW then CCW, the desired level is reached, or I get up and change the volume manually. So, I suppose it could be said the preamp is designed with the user’s health in mind (forced exercise). Overcome by my laziness I added an adjustable pad between the preamp and my pwr amp to get the volume control knob in a useable range.
Input #1 is marked phono. Really deceptive… no internal phono cartridge amp on input #1. At least now I know that parenthesis on a piece of ADCOM equipment means: We’re trying to fool you. Aren’t marketing guys creative?
Sonically: I’ve no complaints. It is at least as good as the preamp it replaced. I can’t do rapid A-B switching to compare, which doesn’t really prove anything except that you can hear a difference with rapid A-B switching (If you truly can). We’ll see what the longevity fairy has instore for the preamp in years to come.

Adcom GFP-915 Pre amp

I replaced an older Adcom FM tuner pre amp with this one. And I'm happily surprised how clean and clear the music sounds now! Don't hesitate to add this component to your system. I read some great reviews about this pre amp online before I pulled the trigger. Boris at the Audio Legacy was great to work with and very helpful with my set up. I also received a $150 rebate from upgrading from my old Adcom!

Glad I found The Audio Legacy

I was looking to replace my thirty year-old Adcom PreAmp.

I had a $1,000 budget and started searching. There were so many in this price range but none checked all the boxes.

The one thing I couldn't live without was the chance to toslink from my CD player to DAT to PreAmp.

I chose the ADCOM GFP-915 STEREO PREAMPLIFIER. Great fit for me!!!!

Boris was fantastic and handled my order flawlessly.

Quick shipping and great communication. I never had to wonder what's happening next.

I'm not sure about the other brands they carry but I received an unbelievable trade-in price for my old PreAmp. That went smooth too!

They credited my trade-in to PayPal three days after I shipped it to them.

I highly recommend that you check out The Audio Legacy for your next component purchase.
